THE SUMMER OF MY DISCONTENT

Not the most up beat title for one of my first post. Yet, I am trying to be real. So here it goes. Am I a bad mother because I can't wait for school to start? Before you answer that remember I am sensitive. My Mom said she used to cry when it was time for us to go to school. I can't relate.
I was looking forward to school being out. I had grand illusions of making cookies . Taking my kids to the park and reading in the sunshine. But, the boys had other ideals. Cooper who is 10yrs old wants to play and do what he wants when he wants to. When I say no its met with " come on Mom." He does read. In fact I can't keep up with his reading. But, his books are in regards to farting , burping, humor...or World War II.
Tucker doesn't want to read unless I am bribing him with a Star Wars Lego. Then watch out...this kid will read. He often tells me in a shrill voice he hates me. ( I must be doing something right.) This often ends with him running upstairs slamming the doors. I am getting in good shape running after him.
Sawyer is 5yrs. old and we have decided he is manic. In a span of 1min. He can ask to go to his friends house, have a otter pop, say he is hungry, want a otter pop, play a game want a otter pop, play baseball, want a otter pop and want to swim. And did I mentioned he wants a otter pop?
All of this happens before 10:00am. This summer has left me with new wrinkles. As I look at the calendar I wonder where has my summer gone??
